High School Course Catalog

Special Education

Special Education students are required to consult with the Special Education teacher to select courses in accordance with their Individual Education Plan (IEP). It should be noted that not all classes will be offered each semester and that different classes may be offered within a classroom at the same time.

Designated special education courses are identified as Intensive Literacy Intervention. Students in these courses will be provided intensive, explicit instruction designed to meet individual needs. These classes are designed for students who have marked difficulties learning to read and/or write, (two or more years below grade level standards) as identified by a special education evaluation.  An Intensive Literacy Intervention course is two-periods per day; 0.5 or 1.0 English credit and 0.5 or 1.0 elective credit, depending on the course.
